What is tea time? (A very brief summary)
Tea time may be associated with the British, but many of us are unaware of its historical significance. I too was curious about its origins and went on a Googling spree. According to Merriam-Webster, tea time is simply the customary time for tea, typically in the late afternoon or early evening. However, there's more to the story. During the time of British colonization, tea was imported from China and India and became a symbol of wealth among the upper classes. Over time, tea became more accessible to the common person, who could now enjoy it in their own homes. Despite becoming normalized, it still retained its reputation as a high society event, and was typically only served with breakfast and dinner due to its high cost.
As times have changed, we at Mellow Tea Time want to redefine what tea time means in the modern world. Personally, I use tea time as an opportunity to unwind and relax, free from distractions and social media. It's a moment to curate a calming ambiance and indulge in a warm cup of tea. Perhaps in a future blog post, I'll delve into more detail about how I approach tea time and share some tips for creating your own personalized tea ritual.
